Terence Jeyaretynam, Director
Net Balance
Terence is a Director of Net Balance in Melbourne and holds a degree in Environmental Engineering, is a Chartered Professional Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers Australia. He is only one of six professionals globally to be awarded the grade of Lead Sustainability Assurance Practitioner by the International Register of Certified Auditors (IRCA), the accreditation program that is aligned with AccountAbility in the UK to certify sustainability report auditors.

Terence has worked in corporate sustainability/sustainability reporting with over 100 companies and has verified the largest number of sustainability and environmental reports in Australia and New Zealand. His experience includes undertaking Australia wide stakeholder consultation in developing the National Framework for Public Environmental Reporting for the Federal Government in 1998. He has also published five benchmarking studies on environmental and sustainability reports, and undertook some of the earliest verification and assurance programs of environmental and sustainability reports in Australia. Terence is on the Board of the Australian Institute doe Social and Ethical Accountability (AISEA), joining AISEA as an inaugural board member in 2003. He is also a judge for the ACCA and ESAA Sustainability Reporting Awards and the Ethical Investor Corporate Sustainability Awards. Terence is the Chair of the Sustainability Committee of Engineers Australia.  He is a member of the judging panels of several sustainability awards programs and
is the National Chair of the College of Environmental Engineers

Janet Saunders, Instructional Designer
2and2
Janet is working as an Instructional Designer for 2and2 and she is the lead instructional designer for the Change2 project.
Janet has over 15 years experience in designing interactive learning resources and training packages for educational and
commercial purposes. Working with various subject matter experts she has helped develop resources for a wide range of users
from Kindergarten to University and corporate clients. She comes from a visual communications background with a BA in Visual Communications and MA in Digital Design. She has witnessed many technological changes, learning trends and cultural changes in
the area of on-line learning, but her focus has always been to provide highly interactive learning experiences that use the media well and engage the learner. Where possible she tries to incorporate meaningful scaffolded feedback, multiple pathways of discovery and implement various forms of evaluation and assessment to help learners with different styles achieve the best possible outcomes.
Her knowledge of learning styles and appropriate learning design combined with her expertise in interface design and functionality allow her to think beyond the content and written word to make the most of the on-line experience.  


Session Overview - Case study, how to & skills based
Session is divided into two parts:  Terence Jeyaretnam, Director of Net Balance will explain in detail the scale and scope of the climate change problem and how it is already affecting businesses.  He will also demonstrate that a significant part of the climate change problem can be addressed by making simple everyday changes in the workplace and how cultural change within organisations can greatly reduce carbon consumption. 

This will lead into the second part where Janet Saunders the Instructional Designer from 2and2 will demonstrate a short explorative elearning module that encapsulates the knowledge from the team from Net Balance.   The module “Reducing your Carbon?”  replicates the everyday office environment and as the team leader you have a limited budget to make significant reductions in your office carbon consumption.  Janet will also explain the challenges in developing the module, the guiding learning principles and how interactive and immersive elearning can play a significant part in tackling climate change.
