Session Overview - Case study, how to & skills based
Many learning professionals have experienced the frustration of aligning their assessment needs with the business’ needs for higher revenues, reduced costs and faster time to market, etc. Organisations need to have a strategic and consistent assessment program that plays a visible, critical role in achieving business goals.
This session presents ideas for developing and communicating the strategy, and then assessing the value and impact to allow for continuous improvement. Not only do training organisations need to develop assessments that relate directly to business results; they also need to convince business units of this direct relationship. Despite lawsuits stemming from tests deemed to be unfair—and stunning awards to plaintiffs—many business units neither understand nor value the organisation’s reliance on strategic, well-written assessments.

This is a chicken and egg dilemma, as organisations often fear that assessment will uncover problems that will be prohibitively expensive to fix, thus preventing them from reducing costs and achieving other business goals. They would rather remediate the problem before the assessment takes place, but how can they accurately diagnose the problem without running an assessment?
