Frontliner Session: Wed Sept 14, 2011 11:00am - 11:30am |

In this session Glenn will summarise some of the findings from psychology over the past three decades and highlight how many of them have been studiously ignored by learning practitioners and their organisations (e.g. learning is doomed when there is a gap of more than a single day between learning and actual application; the powerful effects to be gained from realistic practice as opposed to hours of dry theory, and others). Glenn will then compare common learning practices with alternatives that take account of the findings of cognitive psychology, in order to present new approaches to preparing and supporting knowledge workers more effectively. He will then close with a look at how workplace learning and performance professionals can begin preparing their organisation to take advantage of the opportunitites available in refocusing their efforts and strategy.
