Speaker Bruce Hilliard |
|
Since 1983 Bruce Hilliard has been exploring the science and art of teaching, by applying extensive research in a range of psychological specialisations, to create highly effective and practical educational techniques. These innovative approaches have then been applied in many countries, and with numerous Government and commercial organisations, to ensure that they work in real world situations to significantly improve learning outcomes. Some of these techniques have already been explained in his ground-breaking book ‘Persuasion and Influence, The Science and Art of Effective Presentation’. Bruce is continuing his research through Murdoch University in Western Australia.

Why you should listen to Bruce: |
Frontliner Session: Thu Sept 15, 2011 11:45am - 12:15am |
|
In this session Bruce Hilliard will address a second dimension for implementing the right level of complexity to enhance learning outcomes. This dimension concentrates on the optimised visual display of information in web pages and slideshow programs, like PowerPoint®. However, the recommendations provided in this session are also universally applicable to any visual medium. This approach is based on the ground-breaking results of Bruce’s recent research through Murdoch University. However, rather than discuss the research directly, the focus of this presentation will be on the practical application of these findings. This means that the session will give you detailed insights into the optimisation of the visual display of information, to significantly improve the viewer’s attention, comprehension, and impressions. The session will therefore be useful to anyone who uses tools like PowerPoint® to develop and deliver training. Additionally, the universal principles that will be covered will be beneficial for anyone involved in the design of online learning packages.
